David’s Treasure Tree

David's Treasure Tree

David's Treasure Tree was created as a way to honor the memory of 15-year-old David Kanarek.

Project History

David's Treasure Tree was created as a way to honor the memory of 15-year-old David Kanarek, a Greenwich resident who passed away after battling acute lymphomatic leukemia.  Today, every child who comes through the Stamford Hospital's Pediatric Unit during their birthday, or a rough day, anyone who just needs a good pick-me-up, gets to visit the Treasure Tree and find a smile inside.
Ambassador Christina Landle, who is  passionate about this closet and helping kids find joy while going through hard times, has done an amazing job running this project.

David’s Treasure Chest toy closet is in the pediatric unit at Stamford Hospital offers new, age-appropriate gifts. Any child admitted to the hospital receives a free gift. The ‘treasures’ from the toy closet are made possible through gifts of toys and monetary donations from local organizations, businesses, and the community. Donations, new toys, and gifts are welcome throughout the year.
